"Mazda and the rotary engine – a synonymous pairing best represented by the Mazda RX-7; the loud, high-revving rotary, paired with the lightweight, perfectly balanced, incredibly aerodynamic body. The already powerful Mazda twin-rotor 100 hp engine saw a further evolution with the 1985 redesign that brought the RX-7 more in line with the likes of Porsche. It also bumped the power of that rotary design up to 146 hp and added a turbocharger. "
—Official description[1]

The 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE - abbreviated as Mazda RX-7 '85 - is a rear-wheel drive sports car by Mazda.

It appears in Forza Motorsport 4 as part of the April Alpinestars Pack and in all subsequent Motorsport main titles, although it was featured in Forza Motorsport 5 as part of the Alpinestars Car Pack.

It also appears in Forza Horizon 4 since Update 24.

Synopsis[]

The 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE is a first generation model of the Mazda RX-7 codenamed SA22C or FB. It was produced from 1978 to 1985, and replaced by the FC series that was is available in the Forza series as the 1990 Mazda Savanna RX-7.

The GSL-SE trim was offered from 1984 to 1985, and added a limited-slip differential as well as improved brakes and suspension.

Drivetrain[]

Conceived as a light sports, the 1985 features a rotary engine mounted behind the front axle for a balanced weight distribution on the chassis.[2] The rotary engine, which requires less space in the chassis than piston engines, outputs 135 hp (101 kW) from only 1.3 liter displacement.

Unlike newer Mazda RX-7 models in the Forza series, the 1985 RX-7 has a naturally-aspirated rotary engine rather than a turbocharged variant.
