Forza Horizon is an upcoming spin-off game in the Forza series, which is prior to be released in fall 2012. A demo was released on October 9, 2012.

The game will be solely developed by Playground Games, making it the first installment in the series to be not developed by Turn 10 Studios.

The first trailer of Forza Horizon was leaked on March 3, 2012.^[1] It shows a series of sports cars including Porsches but no prototypes, different environments and a concert. None of the showed scenes are actual gameplay footages.

GameplayEdit

Forza Horizon is an open-world racing game based around a fictitious festival called the 'Horizon Festival' set in Colorado, USA. Gameplay is adapted from various gameplay features from previous Forza games, including a large variety of cars, realistic physics, graphics, and presentation. Horizon will feature the physics of Forza 4, which has been optimized to work with Players select a car to drive through the open world environment and can participate in a multitude of challenges and objectives. For example, the player can encounter AI drivers over the course and challenge them to instant races.

The game's overall goal is to progress through the game by obtaining 'wristbands', which are awarded by driving fast and dangerously, destroying property, winning races, and other driving goals. There are multiple race types, including drift, rally, and point-to-point. AI traffic will be present on roads, with most not participating in the races , and avoiding them is part of the challenge. Locations are often varied and shortcuts can be utilized. Races can occur at various times, day and night.

'Street cred' is the game's version of a skill system. Cred can be earned by drifting, avoiding obstacles, jumping or vaulting, getting a car on two wheels, and other stunts. Combos can be chained between these manuervers, and higher combos can net higher money earned at the end of the race. Popularity level is directly affected by street cred, and higher popularity results in new events.

Players can challenge each other by racing through speed traps, which record how fast each player drives through a specifc point. Cameras record play times and they can be shared amongst other players. Photography mode is also included, which always players to take snapshots of their trips.

Barn find cars can be found by the player. They can be restored and added to the player's collection.
